Guru Vyasa Purnima

Guru Vyas or Ashadha Purnima falls on the full moon of Ashadha. The auspicious day is set apart to pay respect to Guru Vyas.

The students in gurukul era era used to worship and pay respect to their gurus on this day. The disciples fast and seek guru's blessings this day.

Guru Vyas wrote four vedas, the Mahabharta and the eighteen Puranas. This is a special day for the Sai-bhaktas also and a special function is held at Puttaparthee.
